Funding for London Business Owners

What’s On Offer

Growing SMEs in London could be eligible for a matched funding grant for coaching and mentoring, up to a maximum of £1000.

At a recent briefing, Exemplas (the organisation managing the Leadership & Management Advisory Service in London on behalf of the Skills Funding Agency) outlined the offer. The aim is to provide support to over 3,000 high growth businesses in the 33 London Boroughs before the end of March 2012.

The business owner (MD /CEO) has the final say on which provider they choose to deliver the support.

What’s It For?

The aim of the support is designed to enhance the Leadership and Management skills of business owners, MDs and CEOs through training & development, coaching or mentoring including support for business strategy and financial planning.

Who Is Eligible?

If the business has less than 10 employees only the owner, MD or CEO is eligible to receive support, however, for businesses with between 10 and 249 employees this can be delegated to the next level of management.

The business must demonstrate a potential for high growth and an eligibility check is made by an Adviser.

Why Should Business Owners Consider It?

Providing business support for owners has been shown to have a significant impact on the performance of the business as a whole. For business owners considering a growth strategy in the current financial climate, improvements in leadership and management skills are of the utmost importance.

Financial support for SMEs in London is hard to find, so I would urge business owners to at least consider if this support is right for them.
